Inter-agency Specialized Training on Operationalization of the Criminal-intelligence Products
The training encompassed theoretical criminal-intelligence concepts and their practical application, by utilizing the IBM i2 Analyst Software. The interagency training was attended by field staff and criminal-intelligence analysts from the Anti Narcotics Force, Pakistan Customs, Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Federal Investigation Agency and the Pakistan Coast Guards.
Mr. Syed Khalid Gardezi, Senior Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Narcotics Control graced the closing ceremony as the guest of honor. Mr. Saqib Khan Programme Officer (Border Management) of UNODC highlighted trainings under Sub-programme 1 ( Illicit Trafficking and Border Management) of UNODC's Pakistan Country Programme. "The illegal activities of well-resourced criminals can only be combatted through an interagency response", he said. In his closing address, Mr. Gardezi highly appreciated the close partnership between the Government of Pakistan and UNODC. He praised the technical expertise of UNODC, to deliver such technical trainings. "The quality of training as observed by me can only be termed "Superb!", he said. "We are the lead ministry of the Government of Pakistan, which is coordinating provision of such highly-technical interagency trainings by UNODC", he added.
UNODC's Pakistan Country Programme (2016-2019) envisages to continuing close technical support to the Government of Pakistan's priorities, particularly vision for attaining the Sustainable Development Goal - 16 "promoting peace, justice and institutional development".
