25th Crime Commission to focus on criminal justice responses to terrorism

The 25th Session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (called the Crime Commission) will examine how criminal justice responses can prevent and counter terrorism. Running from 23-27 May, the Crime Commission draws together around 1,000 participants from member states, civil society and academia to discuss the latest developments in crime prevention and criminal justice.[Read More]

Burkina Faso adopts law against foreign terrorist fighters

The United Nations estimates that in recent years, over 25,000 youth have left their home countries to join the ranks of various terrorist and armed groups operating in the North Africa and Middle East region. To counter the rising concern around foreign terrorist fighters, the Government of Burkina Faso - with legislative assistance from UNODC - recently adopted an updated counter-terrorism law which features provisions against this threat.[Read More]
