November 2015 – Commission on Narcotic Drugs decision on international control of NPS enters into force


VIENNA, Austria – November 2015: The
decision of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs taken during its 58th session in March 2015 through which 10 NPS were placed under international control has entered into force. As set forth in article 3, paragraph 7 of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and article 2, paragraph 7 of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, the decision of the Commission becomes effective on the date of the receipt of the communication for the 1961 Convention, and 180 days after the date of the communication for the 1971 Convention. In the case of AH-7921 (included in Schedule I of the 1961 Convention), the decision became effective on 8th May 2015, and in the case of the other nine NPS (25B-NBOMe; 25C-NBOMe; 25I-NBOMe; Mephedrone; BZP; JWH-018; AM-2201; MDPV; Methylone), included in the schedules of the 1971 Convention, the decision becomes effective at the beginning of November 2015.
