Heroin seizure by MDT in Baghlan

 

On Saturday, 22 June 2019, Baghlan Mobile Detection Team (MDT) acted based on intelligence information, stopped and searched a Mazda type truck vehicle in Shamarq checkpoint of Pul-e-Khumri city which resulted into seizure of 68 kilogrammes of brown heroin. The seized heroin was professionally concealed within the compartment of metal body panels of the truck. Drug traffickers intended to take heroin from the northern Kunduz province to Kabul. One suspect was also arrested in relation to this case.   

MDTs are trained, equipped and mentored by UNODC under Sub-Programme 1, Law Enforcement of the UNODC Country Programme for Afghanistan utilizing funding from the Government of Japan.
