"Together for an informed prison inmate!"

Project goal and objectives

The main goal of the project is to reduce risks of HIV infection in prisons and among ex- prisoners.

Project objectives:

  • To inform prisoners and ex- prisoners about HIV.
  • To improve overall AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support situation in Latvia.
Results
  • Increased level of knowledge on HIV prevention and care among prisoners - 15 informative seminars conducted in prisons. Number of prisoners trained during the seminars was 503.
  • Realised 62 individual consultations through correspondence for HIV positive prison inmates.
  • Providing information materials and HIV prevention commodities for prisoners.
  • Identified and motivated 3 peer educators.
  • Project trainers participated in 18 AIDS seminars, conferences and meetings.
  • Organized 7 project group meetings.
