Project goal and objectives

The main goals of the project are:

  • To initiate the addiction prevention  program in Cesis;
  • To initiate the addiction prevention program in Cesis by opening the addiction prevention centre.
Results Opened HIV prevention centre and recruited professional consultant on HIV/AIDS prevention issues.
Distributed 550 questionnaires and made a study about use and deviance of addictive substances in Cesis; developed an addiction prevention programme according to results of the study.
Increased the number of persons informed about HIV infection and treatment options in the HIV prevention centre:
  • informed 21 institutions and organizations, who work with youth (planned 10);
  • conducted 14 interactive discussions in schools about contraception, safe sex, treatment options, other assistance (planned 9);
  • carried out 13 lectures for specific target groups - for relatives of drug users, for young addicts, etc. (planned 12);
  • carried out 1 information report about the HIV prevention centre in the regional TV.
Conducted 248 individual consultations for drug users (planned 250), 47 individual consultations (planned 50) and 4 support groups for their relatives. Number of performed HIV tests at the beginning of project 0, at the end - 121 (planned 100).
