"Capacity building for AIDS counselling service"

Project goal and objectives
  • Increase the capacity of the AIDS counseling center (ACC);
  • Broaden the scope of AIDS counseling services provided by the ACC.
Results

Increased the number of performed consultations - at the beginning of project 35, at the end - 107 (planned 50-55).

Increased the number of contacts with visitors, IDUs, their relatives - at the beginning of project 90, at the end - 255 (planned 160).

Increased the number of distributed and returned syringes, as well as the number of distributed condoms and realized HIV tests for:

  • number of distributed syringes at the beginning of project - 0, at the end - 30 014 (planned 5 000);
  • number of returned syringes at the beginning of project - 0, at the end - 160 277 (planned at least 5 000);
  • number of distributed condoms at the beginning of project  - 0, at the end - 6 253 (planned 3 000);
  • number of realized HIV tests at the beginning of project - 158, at the end - 474 (planned 325).

Trained 7 IDU-volunteer outreach workers, 410 IDUs invited to the ACC.

Surveyed 100 ACC clients about their satisfaction with the quality of provided services before the project and at the end of the project.

Introduced a new consultation about overdose prevention for clients:

  • number of performed consultations at the beginning of project - 0, at the end - 1160 (planned 300);
  • produced and disseminated 700 copies of information material about overdose prevention.
