"Increase of use of social HIV/AIDS prevention and harm reduction services by imprisoned people and those who have served their sentence"

Project goal and objectives

Main goal of the project is to increase the use of social HIV/AIDS prevention and harm reduction services by imprisoned people and those who have served their sentence.

Project objectives:

  • To conduct informational seminars and trainings in Šiauliai Town and District Penitentiary Inspection and Šiauliai Remand Prison;
  • To conduct therapy seminars and individual consultations in Šiauliai Town and District Penitentiary Inspection and Šiauliai Remand Prison;
  • To provide psycho-social consulting in the premises of Charity and Support Fund "KRIS in North - West of Lithuania";
  • To prepare and disseminate information leaflets on HIV/AIDS for target group members.
Results

Implementing the project social and psychological consultations as well as HIV/AIDS information seminars were conducted in Šiauliai Remand Prison and Šiauliai Lodging-house (initially activities were planned in Šiauliai Town and District Penitentiary Inspection).

Individuals released from prison settings who were in need of social integration consultations could receive it in the premises of Charity and Support Fund "KRIS in North - West of Lithuania". HIV/AIDS prevention consultations were provided for the family members of the project participants. Information material (leaflets) on HIV/AIDS for the target group members were prepared and disseminated during the project.

Main indicators:

  • Number of HIV/AIDS seminars in Šiauliai Remand Prison - 12;
  • Number of HIV/AIDS seminars in Šiauliai Lodging-house - 12;
  • Number of social worker's individual consultations in Šiauliai Remand Prison - 2 times a week for 2 hours;
  • Number of psychologist's therapies and individual consultations in Šiauliai Remand Prison - 2 times a week for 2 hours;
  • Number of psychologist's therapies and individual consultations in Šiauliai Lodging-house - 2 times a week for 2 hours;
  • Number of social integration consultations in Charity and Support Fund "KRIS in North - West of Lithuania" premises - 2 hours everyday;
  • Number of published and disseminated information leaflets - 200.
