|Project goal and objectives||
Main goal of the project - HIV/AIDS prevention and care among injecting drug users in Šilutė.
Implementing the project the room for pharmacotherapy was adjusted in the premises of JSC "Šilutės psichikos sveikatos ir psichoterapijos centras". Commodities needed for work with IDUs and for project implementation were purchased. Organization bought and used HIV, HBV and HCV tests which resulted in 4 positive HIV, 2 - HBV and 10 - HCV tests.
During the project time mental health centre team: psychiatrist, nurses, psychologist and social workers provided medical and consulting services for IDUs. Psychiatrists consulted and assigned treatment, nurses provided medicaments according to doctor's prescriptions and were responsible for documentation, social workers consulted patients individually as well as their family members. Doctor psychotherapist provided individual psychotherapy consultations.
Information leaflets for society and specialists (Šilutė Region Correction Inspection, social service providers) were prepared and disseminated. Information about the project was published in local newspaper and posted on centre's website.
