Project title

"Improvement of HIV/AIDS and drug use prevention among injecting drug users (IDUs)"

Project goal and objectives The main goal of the project is to provide knowledge on HIV/AIDS for women having drug dependence and skills to avoid the risks to contaminate blood borne infections.

Project objectives:

  • To prepare the targeted IDUs education and information programme.
  • To implement targeted IDUs education and information programme.
  • To implement programme monitoring and evaluation.
Results

During the project implementation prepared and implemented the targeted IDUs education and information programme.

In total 29 inmates participated in 3 work groups. During the project period 18 meetings were organized on the following topics:

  1. Introduction to the harm reduction programme;
  2. Safer drug use;
  3. Discussion and exercises on safer sex;
  4. Analysis of HIV/AIDS facts;
  5. Hygiene issues (HIV and hepatitis contamination);
  6. Discussion on gained knowledge.

 

Implemented programme monitoring and evaluation. After each meeting participants filled in questionnaires, also meeting reporting forms were prepared, feedback assessment carried out and requests analysed.
