| | Bolivia and Chile signed a bilateral cooperative agreement declaring war on illicit drug trafficking. Ministers of Government of both countries signed the document in the city of Santa Cruz. The bilateral agreement stipulates the strengthening of police and customs control in border areas in order to avoid the illicit traffic of chemical substances, as well as the regular exchange of information and human resources training.
According to the Chilean Minister of Government, Carlos Figueroa Serrano, "cooperation and information exchange are key strategies for fighting against drug trafficking".
The document of mutual agreement for the prevention and control of the diversion of precursors and essential chemical substances also anticipates the exchange of experiences so as to put into practice common measures and reciprocal consultations. In addition, the agreement calls for joint participation in specialized events, the exchange of updated statistical data, and the control and inspection of commercial and customs operations related to the distribution of chemical products.
