Banana production will recover in 1999

Volume of production

The volume of banana production in the Cochabamba tropics has steadily increased since 1986. In 1998, the effects of the Black Sigatoka disease will be felt. The disease is now under control, and production is predicted to grow by slightly more than a hundred percent in 1998.

Moreover, the value of banana farm production reflects a sustained increase, except for 1998, but it is estimated to reach greater value in 1999.
