UNODC Continues Supporting Counter-Narcotics Interagency Mobile Teams in Uzbekistan by Providing Training on Usage of Narcotics and Explosives Detectors

23-26 September 2019, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.- The success of investigations on illicit drug trafficking cases in many ways depends on the effective interrogation process. Investigators deal with professional traffickers and require both certain skills and high-quality equipment to obtain useful information from the suspects.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA) continues its support to the Interagency Mobile Teams of Uzbekistan (IMTs) through providing high-quality equipment.

Having handed over two units of the narcotics and explosives detectors Rapiscan Systems Mobile Trace to the IMTs for effective interrogation, UNODC ROCA, in collaboration with manufacturer of the equipment, organized a set-up training for users/operators of the Rapiscan detectors.

Six engineers from the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan were well trained and instructed with operation of the equipment.

The training was organized in the framework of the component on "Countering trafficking of Afghan narcotics in Uzbekistan through establishment if Interagency Mobile Teams", implemented under the Sub-Programme 1 of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia (2015-2019) and funded by the Government of Japan.
