#UNODC20 - 20 years of making the world safer from drugs, crime and terrorism

Today on September 14 th, 2017, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime celebrates the 20th anniversary of work towards making the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism.

UNODC is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime, operating in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices.

This year, UNODC marks its two-decade anniversary, remaining steadfast to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by strengthening international cooperation against global crime, and delivering effective local solutions.

Since its foundation in 1997 through a merger between the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, UNODC has stood by nations to help them strengthen justice, promote the rule of law and protect the weak and vulnerable.

The special event in Vienna, involving the Executive Director Yury Fedotov and other senior officials, will be streamed live on Facebook and Twitter starting from 10:45 (GMT+2).
