Promoting partnership between the Uzbekistan Customs and the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency on container control

In cooperation with the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency (NCA) UNODC organized a study tour to the United Kingdom for the Uzbek State Customs Committee officers and representatives of the National Center on Drug Control. Study tour was organized in the framework of the UNODC - World Customs Organization Global Container Control Programme (CCP) and financed by the NCA.

The delegation of Uzbekistan visited Joint Border Intelligence Units at Dover seaport and Gatwick airport in London, met with representatives of the NCA Headquarters in London. The best practices in profiling of high-risk consignments used by the UK NCA, Joint Border Intelligence Units (JBIU) and Border Investigation Units were introduced to the Uzbek delegation.

Uzbek counterparts were particularly interested in the profiling high-risk consignments, effective air passenger targeting, the latest drug concealment methods and drug smuggling cases.  The mission helped to improve cooperation between the UK National Crime Agency and the Uzbek Customs.

The CCP Regional Segment for Central Asia and Azerbaijan is funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program as well as the Government of Japan.
