The Defendant recruited several young girls for the purpose of prostitution and acted as their pimp for several months. In May 2008, police officers conducted a successful undercover operation that resulted in rescuing of the victims and arresting of the Defendant.

The Court received the defence of denial and alibi, however, the Court considered them weak and unreliable. The Court further stated that M.J.L.’s testimony was clear, straightforward and convincing. M.J.L. positively identified the Defendant as the person instrumental in recruiting and pimping young girls. The Court concluded that trafficking in persons had taken place beyond “the shadow of doubt”.
