Charges / Claims / Decisions
Section 4 in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 2008
The prosecutor was able to present two rescued minors as witnesses. After the first witness gave her testimony on direct examination, counsel for the defense manifested the desire of the accused to enter into plea bargaining. However, the terms offered were initially not acceptable to the prosecution and to the clients, hence, trial continued.
After a series of deliberations, the prosecution agreed to allow plea bargaining to acts that promote trafficking subject to certain conditions which include ordering the accused to undergo counselling during his stay in the penitentiary. On 17 November 2009, Norvier withdrew his plea of not guilty to the offence charged and pleaded guilty.
