840 families involved in coffee production and 20 families involved in honey production find an excellent alternative to illicit cultivations with this network of producers.  
The network ECOLSIERRA consists of many producers who do not have the intention to enrich themselves, instead, their mission is to promote the development of, and interest in, the coffee-cultivators of the department in order to strengthen the productivity of the family units that are involved in the network, whilst implementing sustainable ecological agriculture methods. Through the application of such clean production methods, the conservation, recuperation and protection of the natural resources can be achieved.
Training activities and organization at community level are carried out in each of the associated groups to properly commercialize the products that are at the heart of fair commerce in the lowlands. In addition, ECOLSIERRA is searching for fair commercial channels in Colombia and the world, through which better incomes can be achieved for each of the families that are members of the organization.
The ECOLSIERRA network of producers currently consists of 17 groups and altogether 600 families. The certified production of coffee in 2005 consisted of 600 tons with future projections in the next three years of up to 2500 more tons. Thus, it is believed that ECOCERT will receive an international certification and additionally, via means of negotiation on the U.S. and Japanese markets, ECOLSIERRA expects the NOP (National Organic Program) and JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) certifications respectively.

Registered as RSAFL51204 in the Sanitary Register, the process falls under the authority of a representative of BIOTROPICO and takes place in the coffee processing plant La Bastilla which is located in the industrial zone de Gaira cal 18 No 4-249.
