AGROINDUSTRIAS TOTORÓ DE SEVILLA S.A

In 2000, a new oven was constructed with the technology of CIMPA and is being used today. In 2001, a new project was started by the name of Generation of Work, which agriculturally tried to reactivate a zone that is optimal for the development of sugarcane.

Nine families benefited indirectly, whose head of family offered their services as independent workers for activities like selection, loading and transporting of material between the cane cultivations and the sugar mill.

At the moment, a project is being developed which generates employment though the program of the committee of coffee producers called “Young Cane Producers”, who are trying to guarantee the supply of raw material to the mills, to arrange for 30 hectares of cultivation area of sugarcane and to establish 66 working places in the short run.

This struggle to consolidate the company at the regional level has not been in vain and the reputation that it now has is due to many sacrifices by the inhabitants of the region who have managed to sustain themselves in short time. Thanks to them, the company could continue with the help of the committee of coffee producers and the cooperative of coffee cultivators of Sevilla, entities which have been permanently linked to the development of the region.

The social objective of the company Agrointo S.A. is very wide and creates management opportunities of management that guarantee the sustainability of the company in the medium and long term.

Characteristics of the Product:

Panela Totoro (TT) is produced under the strictest quality controls with measures being taken to ensure that the production process is environmentally friendly. Instruments of the highest quality are used and locals ensure that the tradition of sugar production is transferred from generation to generation.

Agroindustrias Totoro (Agrointo S.A.) uses an integral production system that involves the producers of sugarcane (associates) in the process and looks for the highest quality of cultivation to personalized technical and social assistance offered by the Departmental Committee of Coffee Cultivators of the Valle del Cauca. Such assistance encompasses the whole cycle from harvesting of the raw material up to the production of the final product Panela Totoro (TT).

The production skills of the gifted producers and the quality of the end-product guarantee the high outputs and appropriate dedication.
