BANANAS FROM META

Two organizations of banana producers currently exist in Meta: ASOPROADUM and ASOPROAJU. They are made up of 500 families and 210 members in 18 communities. With the cultivation of bananas they found a good opportunity to substitute illicit cultivations.

This is a project that was initiated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in 2000 and currently assists 79 families that receive special credits for the development of banana cultivations. The project was implemented in the geographical areas of Zone of Uribe, the river Duda, and the plateau in the Meta Department.
