Module 1: Drug Addiction and Basic Counseling Skills
  Module 1 consists of 4 workshops which provide a review of what addiction is, how it occurs and what different catgegories of psychoactive substances do to the body and brain. In addition, a basic set of counseling skills is presented with exercises for skill acquisition.

Module 2: Motivating Clients for Treatment & Addressing Resistance
 

Module 2 consists of 3 workshops which present the rationale for Motivational Interviewing (MI) and describe the fundamental skills needed to employ this approach. Particular attention is given to role plays and practice sessions to promote skill acquisition.

Module 3: Cognitive Behavioural and Relapse Prevention Strategies
  Module 3 consists of 3 workshops describing the rationale for and critical skills needed to successfully deliver cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The module provides a set of documents that help clinicians use the tools developed in CBT to assist clients in stopping drug use and preventing relapse.
