World Drug Report 2019
As in previous years, the World Drug Report 2019 is aimed at improving the understanding of the world drug problem and contributing towards fostering greater international cooperation for countering its impact on health, governance and security.
Strategic Initiatives: Regional Snapshots

Mr. Sergey Kapinos, Representative, UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, shares a special message on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking: "To counter the drugs problem, we need to work together on human rights and health-based responses," he says.
 
Special Messages
Dr. Suruchi Pant, Deputy Representative of UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, shares a special message on the International Day against Drug Abse and Illicit Trafficking.
 
Dr. Atul Ambekar, Professor, National Drugs Dependence Treatment Centre at AIIMS (India) extends support to efforts towards strengthening Health for Justice, and Justice for Health.
Mr. Chanchal Chowdhury, noted Bangladeshi actor, says strengthening ties with families, schools and communities can improve youth resilience against drug use.
 
Mr. Nima Damdul, Chief Program Officer, Demand Reduction Division, Bhutan Narcotics Control Authority, Government of Bhutan says:

"Let us join our heart and soul to stop the menace of drugs in the world and strengthen 'Health for Justice, Justice for Health' before, it destroys our health."
Mr. Phuntsho Wangdi, Director General, Bhutan Narcotics Control Authority, Government of Bhutan says: 


"Addiction is a disease and not a character flaw or a moral failure. No one plans to become an addict. Let us therefore, treat people with substance use disorder as someone who need our help. Everyone has the right and desire for a healthy living. Let’s support 'Health for Justice, Justice for Health.'"
Mr. Ugyen Tshering,  Chief Program Officer, Supply Reduction Division, Bhutan Narcotics Control Authority, Government of Bhutan, says:

"A healthy country must have a healthy society, community, and citizens. As responsible citizens, let us reaffirm our commitment to eliminate the problem of drug use and promote 'Health for Justice, Justice for Health.'"

 
 
Observing the International Day against Drug Use and Illicit Trafficking, youth leaders join hands with UNODC to share their perspectives and ideas on promoting health for justice, and addressing drug use in the society.
 
Concerned citizens from India speak out against drug use in candid interactions with UNODC.
Special Observances
World Drug Day in Nepal
 
In Nepal, UNODC South Asia shared two Prevention Standards developed in collaboration with the World Health Organisation to help formulate national policies based on evidence-based international practices, at a special program convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Nepal to observe the World Drug Day.
World Drug Day in India
 
UNODC South Asia participated in the national observance of World Drugs Day organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu called for multi-stakeholder responses to address the drugs problem.
