This chapter provides an analysis of the problems that police organisations are currently facing as a result of new threats emerging with the spread of communication technologies; and investigates the opportunities for addressing the problem of policing cyberspace. The first section examines the role of the police in fighting cybercrime and the problems of addressing the new threats in this area, while the second part focuses on the opportunities for developing new tools to meet the challenges, capacity building and possibilities for cooperation. Finally, conclusions are drawn to highlight the need for reviewing the concept of police activity in the real world to address the challenges emerging in cyberspace, as well as the necessity for capacity building and cooperation in a multi-stakeholder environment.
