The session focused on promoting the role of youth through education for justice. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices and to discuss how to implement good classroom practices to achieve quality education. Policy makers, reseachers and educators got together to present and interact with the audience regarding effective education for justice with the aim of promoting the rule of law.

Elarbi Imad

President, Moroccan Center for Civic Education

Elarbi Imad is the President and Executive director of the Moroccan Center for Civic Education. He graduated in applied linguistics from the University of Reading in the UK, holds a Master degree in Education from Cardiff University, and a University Doctorate (Hon) from Ottawa University, Canada. Mr. Imad worked as a teacher trainer and served as President of the Board of Directors of the Arab Civitas regional network. He has been working as a consultant and international expert in assessment, citizenship education, civil society and youth. Currently, Mr. Imad serves as the National Director of Civitas International, the North South Center of the Council of Europe Coordinator for Global Education in Morocco, Vice President of the Global Citizenship Fund, Branch Manager of Arizona State University and co-chair of the International Congress on School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI 2020).

“Education for Justice and the role of youth in Morocco”

Abdellatif Kidai

Dean, Faculty of Education, Mohammed V University, Rabat, Morocco

Prof. Abdellatif Kidai is the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. Mr. Kidai also acts as the director of the educational policy and societal dynamics at the faculty of Education. He is in charge of the Master of Educating and Integrating Kids and Youth in Difficulties. He is a member of the UNESCO National Commission and expert at the national Agency for Assessing Quality Higher Education and Scientific Research. Mr. Kidai is an associate professor at Padova University in Italy and associate researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean laboratory for Sociology at Marseille University in France.

“The Role of NGOs in promoting Education for Justice”

Malika Ghabbar

Civil society activist, The Moroccan Association of Fighting Violence against Women

Ms. Malika Ghabbar is a civil society activist who has been advocating for the promotion of citizenship education and human rights. Ms. Ghabbar is a former secondary school supervisor of Philosophy and is now an active member of the Moroccan Association of Fighting Violence against Women, the Moroccan Coalition of Education for All and the Moroccan Association of Supervisors of Philosophy. She is currently a teacher trainer and textbook designer of citizenship education with a particular focus on the mediation inside and outside educational institutions. She presents and conducts different workshops in human rights for the benefit of educators, youth and NGOs.

“Education for Justice: Challenges and Opportunities”

Refaat Sabbah

President, Global Campaign for Education

Refat Sabbah is the Founder General Director of the Teacher Creativity Center in Palestine. Refat is the regional coordinator of Arab Campaign for Education for all and the Chair of the Arab Network for Human Rights and Citizenship Education (ANHRE). He holds a Master degree and an Honorary Doctorate from Almaref University for his work to support education in Yemen. He is the author of “Education and International Development”. Refat also acts as the visa chair of the Regional support group for the ED2030 with UNESCO, and member in ED2030 steering committee leading by UNESCO as well as the Advisory board for the Global Education monitoring report (GEM). Refat is President of the Arab house of Adult education and development and the Global Campaign for Education.
