The E4J Initiative: Teaching TIP and SOM, strengthening cooperation between Academia and the UN

 

E4J held a workshop on  "The E4J Initiative: Teaching TIP and SOM, strengthening cooperation between Academia and the UN". The event took place on 8 November from 14.30-17.30, during the VI Latin American Congress on TIP and SOM, held at FLACSO, Quito, on 7-9 November 2018.

After UNODC's introduction of the E4J Initiative, two E4J Ambassadors, Prof. Juan Carlos Aceros (University of Santander, Colombia) and Soledad Alvarez Velasco (King's College University, London), presented substantive aspects of some of the E4J Modules on trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants, for example, the role of civil society in countering TIP was discussed as well as the international definition of SOM. The workshop engaged the audience in group work and lively discussions on the issues.
