Overview of events
Chairman Arafat accepted the Executive Director's invitation to attend the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) session in March 2000 in Vienna. Chairman Arafat strongly supported the Executive Director's proposal to convene a mini-summit of political leaders from the subregional to discuss the drug and crime issue under UNDCP's auspices.
Chairman Arafat awarded Mr. Arlacchi the Palestinian Authority's highest placard of honor in appreciation for the UNDCP drug control initiatives in Gaza and the West Bank.
