Ministry of Home Affairs

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) in collaboration with different stakeholders organized a motorcycle rally on 20 June, 2007 as per week long celebrations of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit   Trafficking 26 June, 2007. On the occasion Honorable Minister of Health and populations Mr. Giriraj Mani Pokharel declared Nepalese renowned actor and actress as goodwill ambassador for the year 2007/ 2008 for campaigning for drug abuse prevention.  Event was covered by the entire major print and electronic media.


NGOs

The meeting organized by Knight Chess Club today among  NGO, Community Police, Area Police Station Kakarvitta, the following planning was done to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking .

  1. School Level Essay Competition on "The role of Youth to control Drug Abuse."
  2. Friendly Football Tournament between Recovery 11 and KCC 11.
  3. Collection of views through News Paper to control Drugs abuse.
  4. Rally and Closing with remarks, prize and License Distribution.

The program will go on for three days, the date and time will be fixed by COC by 17 of June.

  • Door to Door Campaign with pamphlets, key massages on this year's theme

India Gate
Run against Drug Abuse : 26 June, 8:00 a.m. A sports programme is being organised by UNODC in partnership with the Health Fitness Trust, and the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Delhi.  The programme will include a "Run Against Drug Abuse" The 5 km run, involving 2,500 participants, will be flagged off by the Health Minister, Government of Delhi, at 8.10 am from the India Gate.  Prizes to the winners will be awarded by the Delhi Health Minister and the Minister for Labour and Employment, Government of India, and a pledge ceremony will be led by the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and the Minister for Women, Child and Development, Government of India.  The event will also include a band display, a skating show and a quiz programme for children.  
 

PVR Priya Complex
'Mission Possible' - A street play on Drug Abuse by The Actor's Workshop : 26 June, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. UNODC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and PVR Nest/Cinemas, is organising a play " Mission Possible " by The Actor's Workshop, theatre artists trained by Barry John.  This event is being organised at the PVR Priya Complex, Vasant Vihar. The play addresses some of the core issues, including causative factors, myths and harmful effects of drugs and gives a strong message to youngsters to prevent them from initiating the habit, in a humorous and engaging manner.
