Anti Drugs Day North East

 


 

In the North Eastern states of Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, a series of events were organized in collaboration with the government departments, civil society organization and the media. Activities such as motorcycle rallies, seminars, cultural and youth based events took place. In Shillong and Jowai, districts of Meghalaya, more than 1300 school and college students took part in mass rallies. In the 8 districts of Mizoram, talk show on the theme of June 26 0 "Do drugs control your life?" Your life, your community, no place for drugs" was telecasted in all the leading cable networks. A bike rally, which attracted thousands of people, was also organized in Aizawl in collaboration with the Aizawl Thunder Club. The objective of the rally was to create awareness especially among the youth about drugs and its ill effects.

 

 

 

In Nagaland, in collaboration with Kripa Foundation a special programme was organized at NMA Hospice, Kohima. The programme included experience sharing by recovering users and discussions on problems of drug abuse in Nagaland and a special number which was performed by a recovering addict was appreciated a lot. In Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, similar programmes were organized.
