Site specific trainings on HIV and drug use prevention in the prison settings, Nepal, 25- 29 August 2008

The UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, in partnership with the Governments and civil society partners of South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka), is executing project RAS/H71 titled, "Prevention of spread of HIV amongst vulnerable groups in South Asia".

Dr. Jayadev Sarangi, Prison Expert, Mr. R Gunashekar, Project Officer, Ms. Shova Maharjan from UNODC and Mr. Chandeswar Acharya, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Nepal, facilitated the site specific trainings on HIV and drug use prevention in the central prisons of Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Jhapa in Nepal.

The primary objective of the training was to equip the participants with knowledge and skills pertaining to substance use and HIV/AIDS in prisons and to train peer volunteers with the help of master trainers.
