On 26 June 2008, a run against
drug abuse was organized by Health Fitness Trust in collaboration with Directorate of Prohibition, Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, UNODC and corporates at India Gate, New Delhi. There were more than 3,500 participants: 1,200 women from Gender Resource Centre for Women, 275 trainers from martial arts associations, 250 senior citizens, 700 from police services personnel and school children from various schools and shelter homes. There was a strong level of participation by UNODC staff members. Mr. Yoganand Shastri, Minister- Delhi Health and Social Welfare, was the chief guest for the event. Ms. Ashita Mittal, Officer-in-Charge was also present. The programme helped in increasing awareness about drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking among children and youth.
