Renthunglo's husband is an alcoholic. They have a family of two sons and three daughters, studying in a primary school in Dimapur (Nagaland). She is a member of Orchid SHG, initiated by Project G-86. Initially, she was not even aware about the concept of SHG. But, after two months of joining the group, she has become a very active SHG member. 'We share our problems and find console in the group', says Renthunglo. The group has become a part of her family.
Renthunglo's husband when drunk abused her severely. With each passing day, the situation was becoming very difficult for her and the children. However, she has started seeing some positive changes in the behavior of her husband, after the house visits made by her SHG members.
Mrs. Renthunglo says, 'I can proudly say that orchid SHG has helped me accept the fact and I am slowly bringing my husband into the mainstream through the sharing that I learned from the group.' The group meets once in a month and collects Rs.10/- per month as revolving fund. Some of the activities carried out by the members of the group are flower making, daily wages, cultivation of ginger and candle making.
