Project H13 Sensitisation Workshop on Oral Substitution Buprenorphine, 27-29 November 2006
A sensitisation workshop on Oral Substitution Buprenorphine for partner NGOs was organized from the 27-29 November 2006 in New Delhi.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss the methodology, logistics, scaling up and other project details with regard to the execution of the project activities in the extended Phase
The workshop was inaugurated by a distinguished panel comprising representatives from Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Drug Controller of India, National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) and experts.
The workshop focused on providing conceptual clarity to agencies implementing the protocol on sublingual buprenorphine substitution. It provided skill building of the core staff of partner agencies for the implementation of the same. The workshop included an on-site training at the OSB sites of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and SHARAN to render on-hands experience to the participants. Field visits were organized on day 3 to the OSB project sites of AIIMS the Regional Learning Centre (RLC) and to an OSB partner (SHARAN) site. The participants had an opportunity to interact with clients who were currently adhering to the OSB program. The core team of AIIMS facilitated this process and each of the participants had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the various formats related to the clinical & psychosocial assessment, administration of medication, record keeping, follow-up and monitoring in consultation with the clients who were under the maintenance program.
