Activities Planned by Project

I. Training

CBT Programme in Pakistan

The Project has proposed to conduct a CBT Programme in Pakistan on precursors in the second quarter of 2008 subject to clearances form the Pakistan Government. The programme planned on 18-19 December 2007 was postponed at the last minute due to non availability of officers by the Government of Pakistan.

CBT Programme in Gwalior, India

The Project proposes to conduct a CBT programme on precursors in Gwalior exclusively for the officers of the Central Bureau of Narcotics, India in the month of April 2008.

Intensive Training of law enforcement personnel

The Project proposes to conduct another round of intensive training on precursor control in all the member states during 2008 including a lab component.

10 day training programme for lab chemists

One of the outputs which the project proposes to achieve is to network the forensic capabilities of the labs in the region with a view to sharing forensic information which will assist the law enforcement in carrying out their investigation for tracing the origin of the seized drugs and precursors. All the member countries have identified one nodal laboratory in their country which will be supported by the project. As a prelude to accomplish the above task it is now proposed to conduct a workshop for the heads of the identified laboratory and the chemists during which training will be imparted to them and the process for networking of labs will also be formalized. A dialogue has been initiated with the Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL), New Delhi which is already participating in a Global project (GLO H44) of the UNODC and therefore has the infrastructure and technical expertise in this area.
