Mr. Gary Lewis
A national of Barbados, Gary was appointed as UNODC Representative for South Asia, in January 2004. He has worked with the UN since 1987, starting his career as a National Officer in Barbados. His previous postings with UNODC since 1993 have been in Headquarters (Vienna, Austria), Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Africa and now South Asia. Gary has studied at Queen's University (Canada), Glasgow University (UK) and holds a Master of Science degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He has also worked as a journalist in London and as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand in Barbados. A published author on history, his interests include bass guitar, scuba diving, 4x4 off-road driving, paleoanthropology and soccer. He is in India with his wife Elizabeth and their three daughters.
