PVLP Training Programme: RRTC NORTH EAST III
The training was conducted from 22.11.2006 to 27.11.2006 at Aizawl, Mizoram, India. The over all goal of the training program was to reduce unsafe injecting and sexual risk behavior associated with infected and affected drug users, IDUs and their partners, through various lesson plans and training sessions. The training also emphasised importance of disseminating information among the peer networks in preventing drug related harms due to high risk behaviors. Team Leaders, Peer Outreach Coordinators (POCs), Peer Outreach Workers (POWs) were trained over a period of 5 days to enable them to further train peer volunteers to practice safer behavior and in turn influence safer practices among their drug user groups. Peer Volunteers, identified by each partner NGO in their respective demonstration site, in turn would be expected to further reach out with information and services to current users and regular sexual partners.
All sessions were well participated by all and everyone had something useful to contribute. Daily and End-of-training evaluations were carried out to help improve the training methodology and materials.
Mr. Joy Ganguly was the Consultant from Manipur and Mr. Lallianzuala facilitated as the RRTC Main Trainer.
Dr. Vivek Jain (Research Consultant H13) represented UNODC at the training.
