Peer Volunteers Lesson Plans (PVLP) : RRTC North - Project H13


A Peer Volunteers Lesson Plans (PVLP) : RRTC NORTH - Project H13 was conducted w.e.f. 04.11.2006-08.11.2006 at Delhi.The over all goal of the training program was to reduce unsafe injecting and sexual risk behavior associated with infected and affected drug users, IDUs and their partners, through various lesson plans and training sessions. The training also emphasised importance of disseminating information on safer practices (SP), HIV/AIDS and other Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs) among the peer networks in preventing drug related harms due to high risk behaviors.

Team Leaders, Peer Outreach Coordinators (POCs), Peer Outreach Workers (POWs) were trained over a period of 5 days to enable them to further train peer volunteers to practice safer behavior and in turn influence safer practices among their drug user groups. Peer Volunteers, identified by each partner NGO in their respective demonstration site, in turn would be expected to further reach out with information and services to current users and regular sexual partners.
All sessions were well participated by all and everyone had something useful to contribute. Daily and End-of-training evaluations were carried out to help improve the training methodology and materials.Resouce Persons were Mr. Bangkim Chingsubam and Ms. Archana from Imphal and Mr. Gaurav facilitated as the RRTC Main Trainer. Ms. Harsheth Virk (Officer-in-Charge H13), Dr M. S. Menon (Consultant H13) and Dr. Vivek Jain (Research Consultant H13) represented UNODC at the training.
