The UNODC Regional Office for South Asia organized a field visit for Dr. Juana Tomas Rossello, Drug Abuse Treatment Adviser, Global Challenges Section, UNODC Headquarters on 2 May 2007. Prior to the field visit a
two day consult was organized by UNODC in partnership with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India which was aimed at developing collaborative efforts between MSJE, UNODC ROSA, NCDAP and the RRTC's with the ongoing initiatives under the Treatnet project.
The field visit was useful as it helped in showcasing and subsequently evolving a need based understanding about the existing and emerging concerns related to drug use and its consequences, from the grassroots level perspective of the community members, the primary service providers and the codependents/affected population.
