Mr. Gary Lewis, Representative, UNODC ROSA visits female prison in Sri Lanka, 23 August '07
The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) in collaboration with the Prisons Department of Sri Lanka organized a visit for Mr. Gary Lewis, Representative UNODC ROSA on 23rd August 2007. Mr. Gary Lewis was accompanied by Dr. Paul Williams, Technical Advisor, HIV/AIDS, UNODC; Dr. Monica Beg, Advisor, HIV/AIDS Unit, UNODC and Dr. Jayadev Sarangi, Prison Expert, UNODC ROSA.
The visit was useful in bringing to the fore key activities being conducted by project RAS/H71 in prison sites of Sri Lanka. The visitors got an opportunity to understand vulnerabilities of the inmates and to witness the efforts made by the prison authorities and inmates towards HIV prevention.
