Training on Adolescent Friendly Health Services


Indian Medical Association, Mizoram State Branch in collaboration with UNODC, CHARCA had organized the training on Adolescent Friendly Health Services from the 18th -21st September 2006 in Aizawl for the Medical Officers. Technical inputs were provided by WHO, India.

 

The objectives of the training was to introduce and orient the health care providers to the special characteristics of adolescence and the appropriate approaches to address selected priority health needs and problems of adolescents. The behavioural patterns acquired during adolescence (such as Substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, gender relations, sexual conduct, eating habits and dealing with risks and conflicts) were addressed during the training.

 

At the end of the workshop the participants were expected to; be more knowledgeable about the characteristics and adolescent and adolescent development, be more sensitive to the needs of adolescents, be better equipped with information and resources, be better able to provide adolescent - friendly health services.

 

At the end of the training, 5 Master trainers were identified for the next level of training which is to be conducted from the 4th -6th October 2006.
