WEST BENGAL POLICE WORKING GROUP WORKSHOP, KOLKATA,

A two day workshop was organized by UNODC ROSA in Kolkata from 21 to 22 November, 2006. All the members of the Police Working Group nominated by the Director General of Police of West Bengal attended the workshop to formally deliberate on, and draft, the standard operating procedures (SOP) for investigation of cases of human trafficking. For this workshop, the West Bengal police also invited two of their NGO partners (HRNL and All Bengal Women Union), representative of the social welfare department, a forensic expert from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory Kolkata and the deputy director of prosecution, who provided useful input to the group in their respective areas of work/expertise. UNODC officials facilitated the sessions, provided technical inputs and documented the proceedings.
