UNJIAD: United Nations Initiatives Against Drugs for Iran
The drug issue cuts across a complexity of social situations and dynamics. In this context, while the GA of the United Nations has endowed UNDCP with a global mandate, other UN agencies and specialized programmes own a comparative advantages to UNDCP when a drug control project targets specific risk groups and situations. Accordingly, this Programme wants to acknowledge this situation and to promote the creation of synergies and joint initiatives within the UN system in Iran, i.e. with UNICEF (drug demand primary prevention through the co-operatives for "Community Health Volunteers"), UNHCR (drug demand reduction in refugees camps), UNDP (drug abuse and women's rights) and WHO (HIV/AIDS).
