UNODC Iran Active Participation in CICA Conference

 

Conference on examining different aspects of precursor production and diversion including methods for detection, seizure and ways for combating them

Tehran, 16 October 2018 - The "Conference on examining different aspects of precursor production and diversion including methods for detection, seizure and ways for combating them" was held in Tehran on 15 October 2018.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The ambassadors and representatives of Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) member states and international organizations alongside high rank Officials from Iranian Police Forces, Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Iran attended this conference. As the outcome of this event, the participants emphasized on the need for expansion of cooperation including sharing of intelligence and experiences in the fields of detection, seizure and combating precursor diversion within the framework of bilateral and multilateral projects and programmes including structures attributed to International Narcotics Control Board (INCB); and welcomed holding of training workshops as well as technical meetings and seminars at various levels covering different drug control issues such as demand reduction, combating the drug supply, countering drug-related money-laundering, controlled delivery operations, drug-related cybercrimes and other fields of interest.

UNODC Iran Country Representative, Mr. Alexander Fedulov, while expressing his gratitude to governments and delegations participating in this important initiative, stated that in order to work efficiently, CICA members need systematic and real-time exchange of information and intelligence on illicit drugs and illicit chemical precursors. He also stated UNODC readiness to closely cooperate with the CICA member states on initiatives in areas like drug control, counteracting to illicit financial flows, anti-money laundering, prevention of trafficking in human beings, anti-corruption, transnational organized crime, judicial cooperation, and fight with terrorism.
