UNODC Iran commemorates International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the members of the Mini Dublin Group

 

   

 

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Iran supported launching of the World Drug Report 2018 and organized a meeting with the members of the Mini Dublin Group in Iran on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Representatives from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and UK embassies and donor communities participated in the meeting.

 

Mr. Alexander Fedulov, UNODC Iran Country Representative introduced the World Drug Report 2018 and presented the findings of the report on latest statistics on global trends on number of drug users among general population 15-64 years of age, narcotic seizures, trafficking routes and drug related mortality.

 

During the meeting, Mr. Fedulov also gave an overview of the UNODC Country Partnership Programme for the Islamic Republic of Iran (2016-2019) on country challenges, responses, funding and the way forward.

 

UNODC Iran supported translation of the press release issued by UNODC Headquarters in Vienna into Persian. The press release was shared with the local press and media by UNIC on 27 June 2018. Statements by UNODC Executive Director and United Nations Secretary General on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking were also published on UNODC Iran and UN Iran web sites.
