Number of drug dependent adults up for first time in six years, now at 29 million: UNODC World Drug Report 2016
23 June 2016 - Around five per cent of the adult population, or nearly 250 million people between the ages of 15 and 64, used at least one drug in 2014, according to the latest World Drug Report released today by UNODC. Although substantial, this figure has not grown over the past four years in proportion to the global population. However, it suggests that the number of people suffering from drug use disorders has increased disproportionally for the first time in six years.[Read More]
Brasilia, 21 June 2016 - The exhibition "Forever Free - Livres para sempre", about the history of the slave trade in the world, was opened on 15 June, in Feira de Santana (BA), third destination of the exhibition in Brazil, which has already been seen in Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi. The exhibition is part of the activities of the International Decade for People of African Descent and it is an initiative of UNIC Rio with CUFA.
