UNODC, Ethos Institute and CGU present the study "Integrity System in Brazilian States"

3 October, 2011 - The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Ethos Institute and the Comptroller General present, on Tuesday, October 04, the final results of the research Integrity System in Brazilian States. The study will be presented during the seminar "Foundations for the prevention and the fight against corruption", organized by the Ethos Institute in Brasilia.

The survey, conducted from the adaptation of the methodology global organization Transparency International, can provide important inputs about the main bottlenecks of a national system of integrity, pointing ways of action. The presentation of the study marks the ending of an agreement between the Ethos Institute, UNODC and CGU, which carried out activities to mobilize the private sector for Integrity and Fighting Corruption.

The seminar will also propose the discussion of a new regulatory framework for public procurement in Brazil, considered necessary by several segments of society, including the Federal Government itself. Accordingly, in view of the Brazilian government heavy investments in infrastructure, the overall objective of the discussion is to propose ways for a new law on public procurement that may support the country's development process by ensuring integrity in the relationship between public and private sector.

The reflection may result in important referrals to the project Clean Games, Inside and Outside stadiums, a Brazilian initiative launched in December 2010 to promote greater transparency and integrity in infrastructure projects related to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, bringing together several organizations involved directly or indirectly in the fight against corruption in Brazil.
