Paraguay UNODC donates important office and computer equipment to the Centre for Prison Studies

 

Asuncion, July 10, 2015 - In the framework of actions to support the institutional strengthening, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Paraguay, of the  National Integrated Programme (NIP), "Strengthening the Rule of Law, Security and Justice in Paraguay", held on Tuesday July 7 a second donation consistent in office and computer equipment to the Centre for Prison Studies, Ministry of Justice of the country.

On the occasion, they were present Omar Rodríguez, Deputy Minister of Criminal Policy of the Ministry of Justice; José Manuel Martínez, Senior Advisor of the UNODC Paraguay, and Mary Verónica González Bado, Director General of the Centre for Prison Studies, who concurred that the donation is an invaluable contribution that will help to provide better conditions for carrying out the mission of the institution.

 

It is noteworthy that, the Ministry of Justice is one of the partner institutions of Paraguay UNODC to implement the Sub Programme 2 "Justice and Anticorruption" National Integrated Programme (NIP)  , context in which the donation was made.

The Centre for Prison Studies aims comprehensive training of staff to work in prisons and schools of adolescents from the new approach resocializing prison system posed by the development of appropriate and relevant skills and knowledge to handle within the context of closure.
