International book fair highlights UNODC's work
Publications on illicit crop monitoring, alternative development and drug abuse prevention were in high demand at the UNODC stand during the Tenth International Book Fair held in La Paz from 17 to 29 August.
At the UNODC stand, university students trained for the occasion answered questions on the Office's mission and the different activities it carries out in Bolivia. More than 100 publications on display also contributed to highlighting UNODC's mandate and its work in the country.
This was the first time that all agencies in the United Nations system in Bolivia participated in this annual event. With the support of the Inter-Agency Communication Group, the United Nations system agencies promoted the Millennium Development Goals and progress made so far towards meeting them in Bolivia.
Organized by the Bolivian Book Chamber with the support of the Vice-Ministry of Culture and the Municipal Government of La Paz, this event attracts thousands of visitors every year. This year, 55,000 students, professionals, farmers, government officials and intellectuals attended.
