Short description:
Mission: to empower children, youth & families against illegal drug use and alcohol abuse, through preventive education, awareness, early intervention, research and networking.
Main activities:
Education, information awareness (School based CARE Clubs)
Media awareness/education (Universal), children in Children’s Homes children needing special attention – Walk in counselling & guidance services – parents, children & youth, Outreach – in schools & alternative education programmes, holiday activities for special groups of children & parents.
Education & capacity building for CARE volunteers (School based facilitators), Youth Workers (resilience building).
Prevention & Early intervention in schools through projects like the Rainbow and the CARE Sports Project.
Main achievements:
Through projects, CARE managed to raise awareness to stand up against drugs. Reaching out to groups of children needing special attention in schools through the Rainbow project, the Sports project and CARE Clubs, as part of prevention and early intervention both at school level and through out of school activities during the school holidays.
CARE managed to have an ongoing presence in the national TV by spreading information on drugs, about preventive education, positive messages of hope, character and resilience effectively. Furthermore CARE has a big pool of volunteers, helping them with their activities.
