Short description:
The association is the main anti-corruption NGO in Algeria, with an office in Algier and a country-wide membership.

AACC has intensely campaigned ratification and implementation of the UNCAC since 2001, when the negotiations and the drafting of the UNCAC started. It has continuously put forward proposals with regard to the Convention's implementation in Algeria. Since the government of Algeria was present at the negotiations in Vienna, AACC directly got in contact with the Algerian government as one of the negotiating parties. After Algeria had ratified the UNCAC, Algeria cooperated with a number of experts to contribute practical recommendations, and could also closely involve the press for this purpose. AACC has been working with TI on a number of projects related to the UNCAC and the AU Convention, most recently at an expert meeting on UNCAC in the MENA in September 2006 in Amman.
