||The main goal of DARE is to provide culturally appropriate non-medical treatment to addicted people, substance abuse prevention education and related services to reduce the incidence and impact of substance abuse within the displaced communities of Burma resident in Thailand. It also subsequently aims to expand this service to cover local surrounding communities in Thailand and extend the reach back to affected communities within Burma.
DARE Network has been operating as an officially registered NGO since 2006, and as a community based organisation since 2002. In this time it has provided treatment to in excess of 1200 addicted members of the target communities with a long term recovery rate of over 50%.
DARE Network continues to seek opportunities to expand the services it offers with a particular focus on prevention education and diversionary activities amongst youth and programmes to reduce the incidence of violence, especially domestic violence, in the target communities.
